I've been writing in secret.๐คซ
Why I may never start my own travel blog and some things I've been keeping under wraps.๐ It's hard to blog when you write for a living.๐ I hope I still have juice left for my clients tomorrow.
I confess.๐ซฃ
I havenโt been sharing my articles with you lately. ๐ Iโve been feeling shy about popping into your inbox, worried my updates might be boring. ๐ What a drama queen!!! ๐
Iโve been writing, though! A LOT. Iโm officially a writer now. (NOW?! Yep. Now lang.) Honestly, itโs the first time Iโm really seeing myself as a writer. Even though my CV has: copywriter, speechwriter, ghostwriterโฆ Nowโs the first time I have the nerve to call myself a writer. (Imposter Syndrome is my bestie.)
Iโve always dreamed of starting a travel blog.โ๏ธ
In facttt, I did once: https://findingmyjaninay.wordpress.com/
But now, I probably never willโฆ
โฆ Because Iโm way too busy contributing awesome food and culture articles to Devour Tours! Woot woot! ๐ Itโs the same company I do these pintxos tours for. Hereโs a taste of what Iโve been working on:
Semana Grande: The grand festival that we just celebrated last week.
Euskal Jaiak: The fiesta weโre celebrating next week. (Itโs summer, ok? Give us a break! Haha!)
Denominaciรณn de Origen Seal: This one isnโt posted yet!
Iโm an actual paid freelance travel writer now. WHAT?! ๐ And while it does mean less time for my own travel articles, itโs a dream come true.
A Freelance UX and SEO Writer ๐ค
I also have other UX and SEO website writing projects for tech brands. So if you know anyone needing a strategic writer, my hand is up! ๐โโ๏ธ
Jumping into the freelance life was a reluctant leap. I started as a burnt out community cheerleader. Buttt, things are looking up! Projects are coming in from past colleagues, and I havenโt even started actively selling myself yet.๐ฎโ๐จ It feels good, even though I have my freak-out moments.
Your Prize for Reading This Far
Thank you for sticking with me through this update. Hereโs your reward: Iโm heading to Manila! ๐ต๐ญ Are you readyyy (for karaokeee)?
Iโll be there in October and might stick around until December. So letโs meet up! Iโm planning to spend more time outside Manila, though, in quieter spots like Baguio and Taal. Big cities scare me now (lol), so if youโre up for a visit, Iโd love to see you.โฅ๏ธ
Dayummm
Iโve officially had this blog for over a year. Dayummm. Thanks for being here, still. It has been quite a year for me and this has been a healthy outlet. I appreciate you and your support.๐
๐ Hereโs one of the articles I wrote here in secret:
Confessions of a Burnt Out Community Cheerleader
Reflecting on my short stint as a community manager for two crafting brands early this year (2024) brings a rush of memories, both challenging and rewarding.
Karaoke is the top priority and then Siquijor please! Iโve always known you as a writer!
To me you've always been a writer, your writing is so fun!! And yaaay for those devour tours blogs, awesome!! I knew you'd come back with awesome projects!
Also, I'm free in november.. ๐
